NextGen 9-1-1 Technology Specialist - Telephony

Persons with a technical background coming from a telephony or 9-1-1 community are encouraged to submit a resume for consideration.  As a 9-1-1 Technical Specialist, the candidate will be expected to provide subject matter expertise in the assessment, specification, design and implementation of various telephony systems. Skills

  • Exceptional technical background coming from a telephony or 9-1-1 community
  • Skilled in the assessment, specification, design and implementation of telephony systems.  Documented background with IP Telephony infrastructure and IP/WAN network configurations and changes

Knowledge

  • Approximately five years successful and documented work experience in the assessment, specification, design and implementation of IP based telephony systems
  • Proven knowledge and experience in VoIP and telephony/voice communication systems is required
  • Strong client interfacing background, as well as superior oral and written communication skills. Technical writing skills are a requirement

Professional Engineer (PE) - Electrical/RF

Skills:

  • Sign and seal contracts and project documents as a Professional Engineer.  Function as engineer in responsible charge
  • Direct design work for telecommunications systems, specifically wireless, enterprise-wide, and IP data networks such as radio over IP (RoIP) or voice over IP (VoIP) for Public and Life Safety
  • Coordination studies for electrical power systems, demand load analysis, and voltage drop calculations with an emphasis on low voltage systems
  • Accountable for directing and managing project requirements for multiple project sites
  • Manage the site specific requirements gathering and approval process, construction managers and inspectors performing quality assurance

Knowledge:

  • Minimum five years of experience and current licensure as a Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or the ability to become licensed in Pennsylvania
  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.  Preferably from an ABET accredited institution
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD

Expectations:

  • Provide the leadership and energy necessary to motivate staff and achieve goals
  • Prepare technical reports; present findings and options to clients
  • Responsible for conceptualizing the initial design approach or have overall responsibility for the engineering work to include the specifications and design, project scope, and detailed project plans for dispatch and remote communications facilities
  • Plan, schedule, conduct and/or coordinate work involving conventional and sound engineering practices, but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors to fulfill project requirements.  Participate in marketing, sales, direct client relationships, and business development efforts
  • Mentor EITs and Designers.  Share technical knowledge and expertise with peers—exchanging ideas, concepts, and processes that create a strong team approach to problem-solving and client solutions
  • Provide positive client relations, working with them as partners to develop long-term and meaningful relationships that are beneficial to them – and to our firm

 

Additional Requirements for Employment

Due to the nature of this company, excellent oral and written communications’ skills and the ability to analyze, visualize, and problem solve are required.The ability to travel to clients’ sites is required. Additional consultative experience is a plus, particularly within the emergency service disciplines. Ability to pass a full background check is required.
