Our Work
“More than a consultant, I consider MCP my partner in public safety. MCP understands the needs and goals of my agency and they provide us with tools to help achieve excellence. They are making the transition to new technology and operations a bit easier to forge as we move into the Next Generation of 9-1-1.”
KEY RESULT:
Deployment of the local IP network, completion of the initial regional consortium by-laws and management documents, Master Plan development and management of task completion.
North Central Texas Council of Governments: Next Generation 9-1-1
Challenge:
The 9-1-1 Program of the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is building upon the IP network foundation deployed in 2009-2010 through MCP managed projects. Current efforts include improving network/customer premise equipment redundancy, supporting state level Next Generation projects and implementing Next Generation functionality to serve NCTCOG’s jurisdiction. Planning, funding and project management are key elements to success. MCP is engaged to provide the following services:
- Development and project management of a multi-year master plan encompassing all 9-1-1 Program departments (Technical, Communications and Operations)
- Project management of establishing a regional consortium which implements the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Next Generation technology and management vision
- Grants-related research to identify potential funding sources
- An internal review of technical network-related projects to determine a potential sharing of costs and resources
- An internal review to determine potential collaboration between the 9-1-1 program and the on-going radio assessment project
Solution:
MCP was selected for this initiative not only because of our knowledge of Next Generation standards, industry vendor offerings and federal grant programs, but also because of our intimate knowledge of the NCTCOG 9-1-1 program. MCP continues to partner with NCTCOG and remain focused on their success.
