Motorola - Prince George’s County, Maryland: Network Engineering and Technical Project Management

Challenge:

Mission Critical Partners proposed Network Engineering and Technical Project Management services offering staff members familiar with Plant/CML CS 1000 installation and Verizon 9-1-1 networks and automatic location identification (ALI) service offerings.

The MCP team members who support these efforts each offer distinctive skills and experiences and have led or assisted similar transitions at both the state as well as at the public safety answering point (PSAP) level for over 200 (9-1-1) jurisdictions. These skills will undeniably complement the Prince George’s County/Motorola program and the goals of sustaining progressive improvements in delivery of 9-1-1 service to the residents of Prince George’s County, MD.

Solution:

MCP reviewed the existing configuration and developed Visio drawings to better support the client’s need to visualize the new 9-1-1 CPE and VoIP PBX solution and network components. Detailed spreadsheets and Gantt charts were developed to support the network components, circuit order status, CPE/network costs as well as forecast the timelines for network and CPE installations.

These elements will be utilized to support the new installation as well as the decommissioning of the existing network and facility.

The Motorola Contract Design Review (CDR) process presented a better understanding of the current operations, call transfer requirements and call flow. MCP was able to offer a “what if” scenario to help narrow the list of potential network solutions in a timely manner. The inventory will also assist in Transmission Planning and Recommendation Review by assisting in predicting potential transmission plans in the Nortel CS 1000 or may require delivery via a different media to assure transmission quality.
