Speaker: Aaron V. Lauth, Chief of Police Carnegie Mellon University Police Department
Chief Aaron Lauth is a 25 year veteran of law enforcement who has served as the Chief of Police at Carnegie Mellon University since May 2022. Carnegie Mellon University Police Department is an accredited, full service agency consisting of sworn police officers, security officers, and dispatchers who serve approximately 20,000 students, faculty, and staff at their urban campus in Pittsburgh. Prior to Carnegie Mellon, Chief Lauth spent over 23 years with the Mt. Lebanon Police Department, a suburban Pittsburgh community, serving in a variety of positions and ranks, ultimately retiring as the Chief of Police in 2022. Chief Lauth earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Mercyhurst University and his masters degree in Strategic Leadership from Mountain State University. He’s also a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 264. Chief Lauth resides in Mt. Lebanon with his wife, two daughters, and two dogs.

Michael W. Hunter is a seasoned senior program manager at Mission Critical Partners with 57 years of industry experience. He specializes in public safety, land mobile radio, and commercial wireless systems, having contributed to critical infrastructure projects in 48 states. His expertise spans trunked radio, paging, cellular telephony, broadband wireless data, and more. Mike holds a master’s degree in business administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He’s a recognized leader in organizations like Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Radio Club of America (RCA). bestowed to him the prestigious Fred. M. Link Award. Mike’s extensive knowledge and dedication make him extremely valuable to the communications industry.
Speaker: MCP’s Brian Malinich, Senior Technology Specialist
Brian is a certified professional engineer with more than 25 years of experience in wireless projects at the county, state, and federal levels. Brian played an integral role in the installation of new OWS systems for the cities of Beverly Hills and Malibu in California, Pueblo County in Colorado, Madison County and Estill County in Kentucky, and Pensacola Christian College in Florida. For many years, he supported the early-warning capabilities of the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Readiness Preparedness Program (CSEPP), a joint initiative of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Army.
